Soccer #19

My son has played soccer since he was 4 years old. He is now 11 and in the 6th grade. I'm so glad that we have transitioned from rec soccer to playing soccer for the Middle School. I love watching him play, but I hated getting up early Saturday morning and fighting the cold weather to watch his games. I love that his games are now during the weekday and we don't have to carry our chairs across fields because there are bleachers there. I love Middle School soccer. He just tried out for a travel soccer team and made it! So, I suppose now, I'll get to travel to different states to watch him play. I hope that he likes it and I hope that he learns a lot by traveling and playing advanced teams. He has such a passion for the sport.

Braces

The boys have a big changes going on in their mouth. One got braces off and one got them on. Here are pictures from about a month ago. Since Hunter has had his braces put on, this teeth have changed a lot. He is still missing the teeth beside the front teeth, but the front teeth are now togethr, which made room for the ones beside them to come in. So, those should move in soon.

These were taken with my phone, so not the best picture quality.

This past week has been rough

One week ago today, I left my son home from school because he had a stomach ache. I didn't think it would hurt him to be home alone since he is 11 and considering he would probably sleep most of the morning anyway and school was only a half of a day and I knew my mother-in-law would be there around 11pm to watch the younger two when they got off of the school bus. It was about 11am when I received a tragic call at work. It was my MIL calling to tell me that my neighbor had passed away. Now my neighbor isn't your ordinary neighbor. She and my brother were best friends growing up, so I've known her for a very long time. She was more like a sister to me. She was only 27 years old and had an 11 year old daughter.

About 8 years ago, she was in a bad car wreck. A school bus hit her. Ever since that wreck, she wasn't the same person. She had lost all short term memory and had very bad back pain. She had to take pain medication to control the pain in her back.

We moved beside her a year before this car accident. She and I became close friends through the years and our children have grown up together. She was an amazing person, but had her quirks as well. She loved my children as if they were her own. I've never met anyone, in my life, that had so much love to spread and share. Anytime she went somewhere, she always brought back something for my children, even if it was just to McDonalds or the gas station. It didn't have to be somewhere extravagant. She always showered them with gifts. If she bought something for her daughter, she bought it for my children as well. I will never meet or have another friend that will love my kids like she did. Because of this, my heart will forever be cracked.

That morning, when I left my son home alone, her grandparents found her in her bedroom, in a chair, dead. :( The paramedics said that she probably passed away the night before or early that morning. As soon as I recieved the phone call from my MIL, I immediately left work and went home. I didn't even take the time to tell anyone I was leaving. I had to get home before my children got off the bus. I couldn't shield my oldest from the horrific scene of ambulances, firetrucks and flashing lights going on outside of my house. But, I was going to shield my youngest two. Those two were the closest to her. By the time I got home, all emergency vehicles were gone, which left crying neighbors outside. I brought the two youngest inside and explained to them what happened.

They took the news a lot easier than I thought they would. They even took it a lot better than I did. I'm not sure if they completely understand yet. They are still asking questions about death and it saddens me to answer them, but I do. We are still unsure of her cause of death, but we think she may have taken the pain medication and then forgot she took it and then took another one. The autopsy should come back soon.

This past weekend, we laid my dear friend to rest and said our good byes. And we will move on with a smile on our face, like she would want us to, but we will never forget the impact she has made in our lives. I hope that my children will keep the good memories they shared with her and learn from all of her generosity and kindness.

RIP, Amanda. I love you.

Only Water!!

I can mark another item off of my 101 in 1001 list. Back in July, after I had my surgery, I wasn't able to drink anything carbonated. I was already bloated and the carbination from soda, just ached my stomach. So, I quit drinking all soda back then. I would drink anything else, mostly sugar free kool-aid, though. Well, in October, when I finally decided to live a healthier lifestyle, I gave committed myself to drinking only water. I have not drank any liquid, other than water, since October 1st. I can also say, that I don't crave anything else to drink other than water. I cannot get enough water to drink. I also do not crave sweets or salty foods either. As a bonus, I have lost 16 pounds since October 1st as well. :) I haven't made any other changes, either. I do try to exercise about 2-3 times a week, but at times, I only have time for once a week.

So, I marked #95 off of my list! Go me! If I continue to lose weight like I have, I will soon be able to mark off #81 as well. Just 14 more pounds to go. If I could really commit to #91, I would probably be able to mark both off sooner, than later.

I did manage to scrap a page this past weekend. This is a picture of my daughter on her first day of kindergarten last year. I used the collab from Kaye Winiecki and Re Kniepp called between the pages.

And for all of you that scrap! Check out this giveaway! Roadside Designs is having a download a day for Christmas. Full details will be given away on her blog on NOv. 30th. Mark your calendars.

Long Lost Blog

I've been MIA for about a month. I didn't realize I hadn't posted here for that long. Not sure where my time went. A lot has happened this past month. The 3rd week in October, we went down to York, South Carolina and then went to Scarowinds. That was a lot of fun. We have season passes to Carowinds, but we hadn't been to Scarowinds before, mainly because the kids were too young. I tried to talk my youngest two into staying with my dad, but they insisted on going. They were there about 30 minutes and were ready to go home. They were scared to death! So, my husband took them home and that just left my oldest, Joseph, me, my brother and my cousin. I wish I had taken pictures, but I was too involved in going through all the haunted trails that I forgot to take any. I do have this picture of the boys and myself when we first arrived.

And these of the youngest two with their faces painted.

With that being said, I can now mark off #73 from my list! Woot! Woot!
